Step #1 Download the OpenSUSE ISO image

Download the ISO image for your hardware. If you want the 32 bit version of openSUSE, click here to download (If you don’t know if you have 32 bit or 64 bit hardware just download the 32 bit version as it will work on both types of hardware). Here’s the download link for the 64 bit version of OpenSUSE.

Step #2 Burn the OpenSUSE  ISO image to a CD/DVD

Once the ISO image is downloaded, burn the ISO to a CD or DVD. For a tutorial on how to burn an ISO to a CD/DVD on Mac OS X click here. For a tutorial on how to burn an ISO to a CD/DVD on Microsoft Windows click here.

Share Windows XP Files with Linux, OS X or another Windows Machine on the Local Network.

Looking to share your Windows files with Mac OS X or Linux? With a local area network (a router) and a few minutes to spare this can be easily accomplished.

Note: If more advanced sharing is needed, such as different permissions for individual users, follow this article from Microsoft on how to disable simple file sharing. In my case all I’m sharing is movies, songs, and other media. Plus, my network is isolated to my house, so there is no need to worry about different privileges for users.

Step #1

The first step is to go to the Start Menu or the Desktop and double click My Computer. Once in “My Computer” navigate to the folder that is to be shared and right click . If sharing a whole drive simply right click on the drive.  After right clicking on the folder or drive select properties.
